Richard Preston motors classify a ‘deposit’ as ‘part payment’ towards a vehicle but will be referred to as a deposit below
To reserve a vehicle from sale, Richard Preston motors typically take a £250 deposit, smaller or larger amounts can be taken also, please discuss this with us at the point of order. Payment can be made via debit/credit card, cash or bank transfer.
By placing a deposit on a vehicle, you are agreeing to purchase the vehicle, collect and pay the final balance within 7 days unless an agreement has been made for a different timescale.
In the instance of delivering a vehicle to you, the deposit will be taken but the full balance must be made prior to the vehicle leaving our premises. Typically the day before delivery has been arranged.
We do not take deposits to remove vehicles from sale while you continue to search for, research and look at other vehicles. If you would like any further information about a vehicle or are not wanting to proceed with a purchase in full then please do not place a deposit.
Until a deposit is placed on a vehicle, it is still for sale to any and all interested parties. We operate on a first come, first served basis. We will not ‘hold’ or ‘reserve’ a vehicle without a deposit paid to us.
The car will be removed from sale and unadvertised at the earliest opportunity after the deposit has been taken.
Only deposits paid directly to Richard Preston motors are classed as a deposit paid. Any deposit paid to a third party website does not in anyway secure the vehicle from sale. Any deposit paid to a third party website is not the responsibility of Richard Preston motors and we take no liability for it and does not form any contract with us. We ask that you deal with us directly only.
Cancellation;
We accept that on occasion, people’s circumstances and opinions can change. If you wish to cancel your order on a car will refund your deposit in full within the first 24 hours of it being paid to us.
Once your deposit has been paid, we will then have turned away other interested parties, unadvertised the car and taken steps to have the car made good for collection by the customer. In the instance of your cancellation after 24 hours of the deposit being paid, we reserve the right to retain part or all of the deposit paid. This is to cover or time, costs and lost opportunities with other customers on the vehicle.
The deposit MUST be refunded to debit/credit car from which it was taken. Bank transfers MUST be returned to the bank account they were paid from. Cash deposit will be refunded via bank transfer
